Wednesday, July 20, 2005 Senators Will Consider SEC Nominees The Senate Banking Committee, the group that has responsibility over the SEC, will meet on Tuesday to consider candidates for commissioners at the SEC, reports the Washington Post. Up for consideration is Christopher Cox (R, California) for chairman. Democrats have not formally submitted nominations for their reported two picks: Annette Nazareth, currently head of the SEC's division of market regulation, and Roel Campos, commissioner at the SEC. "It is Sen. Shelby's hope that the committee may be able to consider Mr. Cox's nomination, along with the other two vacancies, before the August recess," Shelby spokeswoman Virginia Davis told Reuters. Richard Shelby (R, Alabama) is chairman of the Senate Banking Committee. Senate aides told the Post yesterday that the three expected nominees would be bundled together if the paperwork was completed in time for the hearing.
