Tuesday, October 18, 2005 Bogle's Vanguard Investor champion Jack Bogle is in London this week to champion another cause, of sorts. The Financial Times reports that Bogle is taking a break from promoting his new book, The Battle for the Soul of Capitalism, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. Bogle's ties to the battle are more than just as an interested bystander. Bogle named the mutual fund company that we all know and love after the flagship of British naval hero Lord Nelson, who was killed in the Battle on October 21 1805. Interestingly, Nelson's own Vanguard did not make it to the Battle, according to the FT. The ship was worn out from previous battles prior to the Battle of Trafalgar.
