Monday, March 19, 2007 K Street Demise Lets ICI Obtain a Hart The Republican's loss of the Senate was good news for James Hart, the new chief of the ICI's political action committee (or PAC to Washington insiders), reports Bloomberg. The ICI was free to hire Hart, a Democrat, after the Republican's "K Street Project" crumbled along GOP's control of Congress. The ICI, some may recall, was one of the initial targets of the K Street gang when it was pressured to fire Julie Domenick (she held out for a year). Daniel Crowley, the ICI's chief government affairs officer (and former general counsel for Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich), gets the money quote of the article: "If you're always playing down the middle of the fairway, you don't have to worry about which way the political winds may be blowing," Crowley told Bloomberg.
