Wednesday, March 28, 2007 Fund-amental Schwab is set to launch three mutual funds next week that will be based on fundamental indexes. This is a departure from the capitalization-weighted indexes that are the basis for most stock index funds. The new funds being launched are the Schwab Fundamental U.S. Large company Index Fund, the Fundamental U.S. Small-Mid Company Index Fund and the Fundamental International Large Company Index Fund. Reuters reports that fundamental-weighted indexes take into account factors such as a company's revenue, book value, or earnings.
