Not only do few investors crossover from one type of product to the other, few fund firms are switchhitters either. Yet, those firms specializing in open-end funds may want to take a peek at the closed-end world, reports the WSJ's Fund Track column. The paper reports that closed-end fund offerings have already raised more than $30 billion so far this year. That is more than they raised in all of 2006.
