Tuesday, November 18, 2008 Stowers' Institute Spots a Deal in the Bond Market Jim Stowers' institute has spotted a deal in the falling bond market. The Stowers Institute for Medical Research bought back $200 million of its own bonds earlier this year after it saw a jump in interest rates, The Kansas City Star reports. Stowers, who founded American Century Investments, started the institute with his wife Virginia in 1994. The institute has $500 million in cash reserves.
