Thursday, September 10, 2009 Putnam Says its Web Site is Drawing More Eyeballs Putnam Investments' Jeff Carney said Thursday that traffic to the Boston fund firm's Web site is up 46 percent in the last three months. Carney, head of global marketing, products and retirement, mentioned the growth as part of Thursday's unveiling of a Web site devoted exclusively to Putnam's line of nine global sector funds.
"Our research tells us that traffic to our main www.putnam.com Web site, which we have dramatically enhanced during the past year, is up 46 percent in the last three months alone," Carney said in a news release. "That shows us the demand out there for quality content that adds real value." He did not give specific traffic figures for the main site. In an interview, Carney attributed the traffic growth to a "combination of some of the things we've done to bring new thought leadership and new products." "There's increased interest in Putnam's story," he said. As for the new site, additional features currently in the works include a global sector portfolio tool and live chats with Putnam staff. Carney said the creation of the new site forms part of Putnam's broader Web strategy. "We want people to know not only what Putnam is doing, but also what Putnam is thinking," he added.
