Wednesday, April 17, 2002 IDEX Funds Makes Flurry of Moves Aegon's IDEX Funds continues to aggressively cross the "T"s and dot the "I"s on its fund lineup. The subadvised funds are the brand name for the Transamerica Capital fund products. David Bullock heads the fund group as president and chief executive of Transamerica Capital and Ken Naes heads up product development. Today the firm opened the doors on a fixed income fund designed to protect the principal investment of shareholders. This is the firm's product of this kind. The IDEX Protected Principal Stock Fund is subadvised by Gateway Investment Advisors. The subadvisor has built a reputation as an enhanced index fund manager. The fund is managed against the S&P 500 index and the principal is guaranteed by AEGON/Transamerica Fund Advisers. Investors must hold the fund for five years to receive the guaranty. They will be given an annual opportunity to "step up" amount guaranteed in the fund, but each time they do so the holding period resets to five years. "Financial advisors and investors still want the benefits of equity investing but they also desire the security and peace of mind that their principal is secure. The IDEX Protected Principal Stock Fund provides both: equity with a guarantee," explained Bullock. In March the fund firm replaced three of the existing subadvisors on its funds. Salomon Brothers Asset Management took over on the IDEX NWQ Value Equity and the fund was renamed to IDEX Salomon Investors Value. It also merged the IDEX American Century Income & Growth and IDEX GE U.S. Equity and the IDEX American Century International and IDEX International Equity. In both cases American Century retained that subadvisory engagement and GE Capital was let go. At the same time it launched the IDEX Transamerica Convertible Securities and IDEX Transamerica Money Market and renamed IDEX Transamerica Small Company as IDEX Transamerica Growth Opportunities. All of the funds are distributed by AFSG Securities Corporation Printed from: MFWire.com/story.asp?s=2350 Copyright 2002, InvestmentWires, Inc. All Rights Reserved |
