Last week, The MFWire broke the news (click here to read the January 19 article) that PNC Global Investment Servicing (PNC GIS, formerly known as PFPC) is on the block and that Bank of New York Mellon is one of the bidders. This afternoon, The Wall Street Journal reported that BNY Mellon is in "final-stage" talks to buy the PNC unit for close to $2.5 billion, and that a deal could be announced as soon as next week.
