Wednesday, June 5, 2002 Two New Areas of Certification The Academy of Financial Services Studies is offering two new certification programs in the mutual fund arena, a spokesperson for the academy told the MutualFundWire.com. Those areas are mutual fund accounting studies and fund administration studies. Both programs will involve online self-study and instructor-led courses. And both programs will be taught by Terry Gallagher, a founding partner of Precision Marketing Partners and the academy. "Many mutual fund accountants and administrators graduate from college with an accounting finance degree, but never receive the specialized training and education needed to handle the fast paced, detailed-oriented tasks facing mutual fund accountants and administrators. Now they have the opportunity to learn not only the theory and methodology of mutual fund accounting, but also the practical applications from a seasoned mutual fund accounting executive," Gallagher stated. "These two new certification programs we have developed address the unique requirements of daily accounting and financial reporting for mutual funds including pricing, performance and yields, fees and expenses, and tax and regulatory reporting," Rochelle Lamm, chair and ceo of the academy, added.
