Wednesday, June 19, 2002 Schwab Shuffle The Charles Schwab Corporation has named John Coghlan, who is also the vice chairman and enterprise president of Schwab Institutional, head of of the firm's retail business. He takes over from David Pottruck, who has been in charge of the business on an interim basis for the past three months. The change takes place on July 8. Coghlan has had a long career at Schwab and has led such units as the firm's defined contribution business. Pottruck, who was temporarily in charge of the retail area, took over from Steven Scheid, who resigned earlier this year. Also on the move up the corporate ladder at Schwab is William Atwell. He has been named executive vice president, Schwab Institutional, International and Banking. He joined the firm in 2000 when he was hired to be executive vice president in charge of Schwab's international business.
