Wednesday, June 9, 2010 Fidelity Keeps Much of the Triangle Intact Since the close of 2008, the number of Fidelity workers in North Carolina's Research Triangle Park (RTP), went down by 6 percent, The News Observer reports. The drop, notes the pub, isn't as large as the staff reductions Fidelity implemented in other outposts. Fidelity had 2,449 RTP workers on its payroll at the end of 2008. The reduction of nearly 150 jobs resulted from attrition and two rounds of layoffs, Fidelity spokesperson Vin Loporchio told The News Observer. The Boston-headquartered mutual fund titan cut a total of 16 percent of its workforce over that period. Fidelity's current headcount totals 37,000.
