Pimco Hires Six


Pimco has hired six and plans to continue its hiring spree as part of its active equity push.

The Newport Beach, California-based firm, known for its bond fund offerings, tapped Maria Gordon as executive vice president and emerging market portfolio manager. She came from Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she most recently ran the Goldman Sachs Emerging Markets Equity Fund and co-managed the Goldman Sachs BRIC Fund.

Richard Flax has taken over Gordon's duties, according to Goldman Sachs spokeswoman Melissa Daly.

Gordon will join Pimco's London office in October and head up the the emerging markets equity team.

Pimco also recently hired Rebecca Babin, previously with Brigade Capital Management, as senior vice president and equity trade in New York; Mark Cooper, formerly with Omega Advisors, as senior vice president and equity analyst in New York; Steve Craige, formerly with the Mutual Series team at Franklin Templeton, as senior vice president and equity product manager in New York; Patrick Lawler, formerly with Pequot Capital Management, as senior vice president and equity analyst in New York; and Melissa Tuttle, previously with Goldman Sachs Asset Management International, as senior vice president and equity trader in London.

Neel Kashkari, Pimco's managing director and head of new investment initiatives, said in a press release that "looking ahead to the remainder of 2010 and 2011, Pimco will continue to recruit top notch talent as we build out a Pimco-quality active equity platform to serve our clients around the world."
