Virtus Outsources Transfer Agency
Virtus Investment Partners [see profile] is outsourcing transfer agency services for its mutual funds. Today BNY Mellon Asset Servicing revealed that the Hartford, Connecticut-based asset manager has tapped BNY to serve as the transfer agent for the Virtus mutual funds, which boast $14.9 billion in 290,000 shareholder accounts (as of December 31).
Virtus previously used its own distributor, VP Distributors, as the funds' transfer agent [see filing]. Fundsters may not be surprised by Virtus' selection of BNY, as the New York-based back-office provider already handles fund accounting, administration and custody services (and shareholder services for Virtus' closed-end funds).
Patrick Bradley, senior vice president of mutual fund administration at Virtus, praised BNY for its "operational efficiencies and technology platform."
