Pimco Names Two New PMs

Pimco [see profile] is hiring two long-time traders for its real return PM team. Today the Newport Beach, California-based mutual fund firm and Allianz subsidiary confirmed that Jeremie Banet joined up on August 1 and that Greg Sharenow will climb aboard on September 7.

The MFWire.com could not immediately reach a Pimco spokesperson for further details on Banet's and Sharenow's new roles.

Banet, now a senior vice president and PM at Pimco, previously worked at Nomura Fixed Income as an inflation-linked investments trader. He also led U.S. inflation trading at BNP Paribas.

Sharenow, who will be an executive vice president and PM at Pimco, most recently served as a proprietary energy trader at Hess Energy Trading Company. He previously worked at Goldman as an executive director and proprietary commodities trader, at DE Shaw & Co as an energy trader, and at Goldman in commodities research and financial analysis.

Mihir Worah, managing director and head of Pimco's real return PM team, described the additions as a way to "expand further Pimco's capabilities and enhance the firm's ability to serve the increased client demand for our real return investment solutions.
