Ranger Joins the Fund Fray

There's a new mutual fund player in Big D. Dallas-based Ranger Capital Group has launched a pair of mutual funds via a series trust format, with plans for additional offerings later this year.

Scott Canon, president, told the MFWire that the firm is looking to launch two more mutual fund series later in the year. Those funds would cover an international equity and a mid-cap domestic strategy.
He also said that the firm is currently in talks to place its funds on various platforms such as Pershing and TD Ameritrade, and that the firm may hire additional sales and marketing personnel to support its fledgling mutual fund business.
The two just-launched mutual funds are the Small Cap Fund, which is PMed by Conrad Doenges and Quest for Income and Growth Fund, which is PMed by William Andersen.
The firm launched series in response to inquiries from its institutional clients and the consulting community.
"We had a number of requests from our pension and insurance clients for these products last year," explained Canon. "We've been doing this for 20 years for institutional clients."
