Friday, March 9, 2012 Beth Brown Bids Columbia Adieu Beth Brown, head of intermediary distribution at Columbia Management [profile], is leaving the Boston-based mutual fund firm at the end of the month, Columbia spokesman Ryan Lund confirmed to The MFWire. Reuters first reported on the news. In e-mailed statement to The MFWire, Lund wrote that Columbia has "an experienced leadership team and we've taken this opportunity to integrate intermediary sales and platform support within our business lines." Chris Thompson, head of retail products and marketing, will lead the retail sales team. Institutional chief Jeff Peters will lead the sub-advisory and defined contribution investment-only teams and chief administration officer Amy Unckless will oversee high net worth and 529 plan businesses. Three weeks ago, Columbia's president, Mike Jones, left to join Fidelity's institutional asset management unit, Pyramis Global Advisors, as chairman, president and CEO.
