Monday, July 30, 2012 State Street to Offer New ETFs Two new fixed-income ETFs will be offered by State Street Global Advisors [profile] in Australia, after getting licensed by S&P Dow Jones Indices, The Asset reports. The two new products are based on the S&P/ASX Australian Fixed Interest Index and the S&P/ASX Australian Government Bond Index. The S&P/ASX Australian Fixed Interest Index measures the performance of the Australian short-term money market and Australian bond market. Meanwhile, the S&P/ASX Australian Government Bond Index measures the performance of the state-issued bond market, including securities issued by various Australian government issuers. Both indexes are market-value-weighted. “Fixed income is an important part of a well-diversified portfolio. Until recently, however, the asset class has been difficult for retail investors to access and has been poorly understood. These new SPDR ETFs allow investors to gain exposure to fixed income via a trusted ETF manager and based on one of Australia’s best known index providers," said Amanda Kelly, head of SPDR ETFs in Australia."
