Monday, January 27, 2003 Lincoln Targets Bank Distribution Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Lincoln Distributors is upping its efforts to reach into the bank distribution channel for its products. To spearhead the effort it has tapped insurance industry veteran Gregory M. Smith. Smith, a managing director, will head Lincoln's effort to distribute its mutual fund, life insurance, annuity and retirement products through banks, said a spokesperson. Smith was traveling and unavailable for immediate comment. "This is a new post," said the spokesperson, adding that Lincoln is "continuing to increase its focus on sales and marketing in the bank channel." Smith will oversee the day-to-day sales management, customer relationship management, new business development and overall growth strategies in the bank channel. Smith was most recently senior vice president, Financial Institutions for Zurich Kemper Life. There, he ran the design, implementation and overall coordination of Zurich Life's retail distribution strategy. He is also a veteran of Allstate Insurance.
