Thursday, February 27, 2003 Custodian Planning Advisor Show Fund sales pros need to mark their calendar as another advisor custodian is preparing a client conference. Ameritrade Institutional is planning its first client conference for next September, Jim Wangsness, senior vice president of Ameritrade Advisor Services, told the MFWire.com. "It will not be a traditional show with a big exhibitor hall," said Wangsness in obvious reference to the Schwab Institutional Conference. He said that the initial conference will take a more educational tone and focus on three themes: practice management, marketing and product. It will also carry a "week of fun" theme. Wangsness said that Ameritrade intentionally coordinated the timing of the conference to correspond with the NAPFA Midwest Regional conference and the Financial Advisor Symposium. All three conferences will be held in Chicago. NAPFA runs from September 11 to 12 (Thursday and Friday), Ameritrade's Client Summit is September 15 and 16 (Monday and Tuesday) and the Financial Advisor Symposium is on the 17th. "We are a platinum sponsor at the FAS conference and are planning events around all three events," said Wangsness. The Ameritrade conference will be held at the Marriott in Chicago.
