Harvard Business Review Examines Saint Jack's Legacy


Sometimes it's not about you.

Understanding that simple fact may be one of the keys to the monumental impact Vanguard founder Jack Bogle has had on the financial industry, according to Justin Fox at Harvard Business Review.

Fox notes one luncheon last week, held in honor of Bogle, in which the mutual giant, after finishing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, devoted all of his time at the podium to touting the accomplishments of other people, and then simply sitting down.

The Harvard writer says that this theme, focusing on the interest of others was key to his success--particularly after he was ousted from Wellington Management and used that opportunity to launch Vanguard.
