Two Voices Leave LPL

Who will be LPL's next voice to the media?

MFWire has learned that a search is on for a new media chief at the San Diego-based, independent broker-dealer giant after two public relations executives recently moved on and a PR consultant joined up.

Tony Vignieri, vice president of public relations, left LPL this summer. Then at the beginning of this month, Betsy Weinberger, senior vice president of media relations, left LPL. Both Vignieri and Weinberger were based in LPL's San Diego, California headquarters.

Last month Lauren Hoyt-Williams -- who has done PR and marketing communications work with Busch Gardens, the Laser Spine Institute and Sea World -- joined LPL in Charlotte, North Carolina as a senior public relations consultant. And LPL is also working with an outside agency, the Glover Park Group.

"We will be hiring for Betsy's replacement," Hoyt-Williams tells MFWire, estimating that the position will be filled within the next month or two.

Vignieri -- an alumnus of Alden Marketing Communications, Blue Sky Capital, and Visage International -- tells MFWire that LPL is shifting public relations under LPL's corporate communications department, which is based in Charlotte, and thus moving the positions to Charlotte. He is based in San Diego and has returned to consulting with his eponymous communications firm. He joined LPL in March 2013.

Weinberger joined LPL years ago. She previously worked with American Express, Bank of America, Fidelity, McGladrey and Wachovia.
