Friday, April 24, 2015 Watch Out! Open, Online Investing Hits Apple's Latest Must-Have Gadget The latest must-have gadget from Apple is here, and it offers individual investors several new choices right off the bat. Today Apple released its Apple Watch, and 3,000 apps debuted along with it. That includes at least three apps that fundsters may want to pay attention to. Online brokerage giants Charles Schwab (based in San Francisco) and Fidelity (Boston) both launched Apple Watch apps that will give investors access to real-time market data. And the Fido and Schwab Apple Watch apps will also integrate with the two brokerages' existing iPhone apps. The third app fundsters may want to check out comes from Openfolio, a startup based in the Flatiron district of midtown Manhattan. Hart Lambur and Yinon Ravid founded the company in 2012, beta-launched Openfolio's offering in August 2014, and officially launched it all (online and on Apple mobile devices) in October. Openfolio combines social networking and investing, allowing individual investors to share their portfolios (in percentage terms, not actual dollar amounts) with people within their networks. Today OpenFolio debuted its Apple Watch app. Here's the pitch, in the words of David Ma (who does marketing and business development for the startup): Our watch app lets you see your investment performance in real time, compare yourself to the markets and your peers, and check on your stock portfolio without ever pulling out your phone.Openfolio can also tie into all of an individual investor's brokerage accounts, which means clients from different brokerages can use the same app. Printed from: MFWire.com/story.asp?s=51626 Copyright 2015, InvestmentWires, Inc.
