Tuesday, June 10, 2003 Folio Expands Offerings Foliofn is showing off its flexibility. The Vienna, Virginia-based firm has created three "Ready-to-go" stock baskets for clients as part of an effort to show the flexibility of its system. Foliofn provides its services to separately managed account investors through an alliance with Brinker Capital. During the dotcom bubble, many fund firms perceived Foliofn as a threat to the fund industry. Since the bubble burst, though, the firm has retreated from its retail strategy and attempted to reposition itself as a technology vendor to financial institutions seeking to add basket capabilities of their own. The new portfolios are the "Golf Enthusiast" Folio, the "Wine, Beer & Spirits" Folio, and the "Support our Troops" Folio. The intent, said Chris Broussard, head of Retail Marketing, was to illustrate the ease and swiftness with Foliofn can create customizable baskets of securities. Both the Golf and the spirits folios are intended as themed investments that are timely for Father's Day. The Troops portfolio is a reaction to the patriotic mood in the country after the Iraq War. Broussard explained that the new Folios are part of an effort to attract new clients and expand existing relationships by demonstrating the flexibility of Foliofn's system.
