13 Years In, a Wirehouse Gatekeeper Joins MassMutual

A Ramsey, New Jersey-based wirehouse veteran and fund gatekeeper has taken his skills to an insurer.

Jim Langham is joining Springfield, Massachusetts-based MassMutual as head of products and services in the wealth management division, MFWire has learned. The position is new, says Paula Tremblay, a spokesperson for MassMutual, and Langham reports to Vaughn Bowman, head of wealth management at MassMutual.

Langham did not immediately return a call for comment.

Langham most recently came from UBS, where he was managing director, co-head of advisory solutions and investment products. Spokespeople at UBS did not immediately return a phone call for comment.

"Jim's experience, knowledge and credibility will make a big impact on enhancing the level of investment products and services we provide financial advisors across the country," says Bowman.

Langham's responsibilities will include being responsible for "continued growth and evolution of our current UMA program (UMA Select) and other investment advisory programs as well as the development and rollout of new functionality and services in the retirement plan space, new and expanded capital markets capabilities, and continued expansion of alternative investment offering and capabilities," Tremblay tells MFWire.

Before Langham joined UBS in 2010, he previously worked for Morgan Stanley and Alliance Capital Management. He is an alumnus of Montclair State University.
