2025 Is Off to a $554B ETF Start


The first half of this year has been record-breakingly good for at least one side of the asset management industry.

This week, Debbie Fuhr, managing partner at ETFGI, revealed that the U.S. exchange-traded fund and exchange-traded product industry brought in a record $553.98 billion in net inflows over the first six months of 2025, up by $113.57 billion year-over-year from the first six months of 2024 and up by $81.78 billion from the prior record in the first six months of 2021. The U.S. accounted for 61.7 percent of worldwide ETF and ETP inflows of $897.65 billion in the first half of 2025 (which were up by $167.47 billion from the prior record in the first six months of 2024).

The U.S. ETF and ETP industry brought in $110.66 billion in net inflows in June 2025, up by $28.22 billion month-over-month from May 2025 and up by $27.82 billion Y/Y from June 2024. The U.S. accounted for 70.1 percent of the $158.78 billion in worldwide ETF and ETP inflows in June 2025 (which were up by $40.44 billion M/M and up by $22.61 billion Y/Y). June 2025 extended the U.S. inflows streak to 38 months and counting, while extending the worldwide streak to 73 months.

U.S. ETFs and ETPs held a record combined $11.54 trillion in AUM on June 30, 2025, up by $500 billion from the prior record on May 31, 2025 and up by $2.36 trillion Y/Y from June 30, 2024. The U.S. now accounts for 67.9 percent of worldwide ETF and ETP AUM of $16.99 trillion at the end of June 2025. (That's also a new record, up by $720 billion from the prior record a month earlier and up by $3.85 trillion Y/Y.)

As of June 31, 2025, the U.S. asset management industry offered 4,329 ETFs and ETPs, up by 95 (2.2 percent) M/M and up by 872 (25.2 percent) Y/Y. The U.S. now accounts for 30.1 percent of the 14,390 ETFs and ETPs worldwide. (The global count is up by 207 M/M and up by 1,970 Y/Y.)

401 ETF and ETP providers operated in the U.S> as of June 30, 2025, up by 10 (2.6 percent) M/M and up by 69 (20.8 percent) Y/Y. U.S. ETF and ETP providers now account for 45.8 percent of the 876 ETF and ETP providers worldwide. (The worldwide count is up by 12 M/M and up by 118 Y/Y.)
