Thursday, November 11, 2004 Marsh: Putnam is Not for Sale Marsh & McLennan and Putnam executives are denying that the Boston money manager is up for sale, reported the Boston Globe. Michael Cherkasky, chief executive officer of Marsh, told employees in a conference call that he ''emphatically [had] no intention of selling any one of our three pieces of business," reported the Boston Globe. Meanwhile, Putnam's head Charles Haldeman Jr. told the Globe "[t]here are no discussions going on with anybody, by senior management, about any change in ownership…[w]e are part of the MMC companies and they have been loyal to us when we had a difficult period, and we're very happy where we are."
