Actively traded ETFs are supposed to be the future, but it looks as if that future is uncertain. So say some of the experts who talked to the Wall Street Journal about the future of the ETF industry.

Those who weighed in include IndexUniverse global head of editorial and president of ETF analytics Matt Hougan and Principal Financial Group chairman, president and CEO Larry Zimpleman, as well as several advisors and authors. Yet the list does not include executives at the mutual fund shops currently offering ETFs.
