Fidelity Investments has announced a swath of changes to Spartan-branded bond and money market lineup, including lower fees and minimum investments and name changes.

Fidelity is lowering the minimum investments on five of its Spartan municipal money market fund series from $100,000 to $25,000, and swapping the "Spartan Municipal Money" from each fund's name for "Fidelity AMT Tax-Free Money" to bring the funds in line with management's goal to reduce alternative minimum taxes for investors.

The funds will change from:

Spartan Municipal Money Fund to Fidelity AMT Tax-Free Money Fund
Spartan California Municipal Money Market Fund to Fidelity California AMT Tax-Free Money Market Fund
Spartan Massachusetts Municipal Money Market Fund to Fidelity Massachusetts AMT Tax-Free Money Market Fund
Spartan New Jersey Municipal Money Market Fund to Fidelity New Jersey AMT Tax-Free Money Market Fund
Spartan New York Municipal Money Market Fund to Fidelity New York AMT Tax-Free Money Market Fund

On the taxable money market side, three of Fidelity's Spartan money market funds will adopt new names and increase minimum investments from $20,000 to $25,000:

Sixteen of Fidelity's tax-free municipal bond funds will also do away with the Spartan name. Their names will change from:
