Jay H. Strohmaier, CFA, has joined Advantus
Capital Management as senior vice president of institutional account sales.
He will lead the St. Paul-based asset manager’s sales effort in the
institutional and insurance markets.
“Jay comes to Advantus with 23 years of sales success in the institutional
market,” said Mary Marston, vice president, Marketing and Investment
Products. “He brings a strong work ethic, solid relationship skills and
desire to make a difference that will be a good fit with our culture.”
Strohmaier joins Advantus from Peregrine Capital Management, where he most
recently was senior vice president and portfolio manager. His experience in
the investment industry spans a broad range of investment strategies,
including fixed income, equities and derivative products. Strohmaier holds
a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University and a master’s from
the University of Minnesota; he earned his CFA designation in 2005.
Strohmaier plans to expand the sales function at Advantus, which has seen a
15 percent compounded annual growth rate over the past two years. Future
growth is expected to be driven, in part, by three newer products,
including long duration fixed income, core plus fixed income and a Schedule
B commercial mortgage product.
