Northern Trust Hires New VP for Value Investors Division

Alec Robert Harrell has joined Northern Trust as vice president and portfolio manager for Northern Trust Value Investors (NTVI), a division of Northern Trust Investments (NTI). Harrell is responsible for conducting research on domestic and international equities and also serves on the Large Cap Value Investment Committee. Northern Trust, the world's 7th largest asset manager and a leading provider of personal financial services for affluent individuals and families, announced today that Alec Robert Harrell has joined the company as Vice President and Portfolio Manager for Northern Trust Value Investors (NTVI), a division of Northern Trust Investments (NTI). Harrell is responsible for conducting fundamental research on domestic and international equities. Additionally, he serves on the Large Cap Value Investment Committee which provides guidance on large cap value investing.

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Harrell co-founded Convergent Fund Management, LLC, a registered investment management firm specializing in quantitative equity strategies located in Southern California. There he co-managed a 4-star rated Morningstar fundamental quantitative portfolio marketed to high net worth and institutional clients. Before Convergent, Harrell held investment management and analyst positions at Needelman Asset Management and the Provident Growth Fund, also in Southern California.

Harrell is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the South Florida Financial Analysts Society. He received his bachelor's degree in politics, philosophy and economics from Claremont McKenna College. He also earned a Masters of Business Administration and Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California.
