St. Paul, Minnesota-based Merrill Corp. has promoted Roy Gross to president of the firm's marketing and communications business, a newly created role, according to a company spokesperson. Gross was previously executive vice president at Merrill's financial services business, which offers communications services to mutual fund, insurance and retirement services firms. Prior to joining Merrill, Gross was senior vice president of sales and marketing at Gabelli Asset Management and earlier, he spent 15 years at Dreyfus Corp. in a number of marketing and operations roles.

Merrill's Marketing and Communication Solutions business supplies brand identity management, customer communication and packaged direct marketing for markets such as financial services, real estate, franchises, direct sellers, corporate and professional services.
