John Spence uses earnings reported yesterday by
Franklin Resources and
Janus to take the fund industry's temperature. After evaluating the two companies' better-than expected report cards, Spence concludes that despite the increased volatility and uncertainty in the markets, fund companies will continue to do well. Spence also throws in earnings reported after the bell yesterday by
Federated Investors, which reported lower year-over-year profit, noting that not all fund companies fared well last quarter.
