In Friday's Wall Street Journal Fund Track column, Diya Gullapalli reports on Boston investment manager GMO's Wednesday announcement (see The MFWire, 02/11/09) that it hired AllianceBernstein veteran Marc Mayer as CEO. Mayer will start at GMO next month, becoming the company's first ever CEO since its founding in 1977.

GMO executives said having a CEO would enable the firm's senior partners to focus exclusively on the areas they supervise directly.
