Jim Laird, president of Diamond Hill Securities, will also serve the firm as cfo. The firm is located in Columbus, Ohio.



According to The Wall Street Journal, Merrill Lynch will be closing its Denver office complex in the middle of this year. The backoffice functions of the office will be relocated to Florida and New Jersey.



Wilton Asset Management, a joint venture between SSgA and DuPont Capital Management, is closing its Wilton Private Equity Fund. It has over $240 million in commitments.



Morningstar has named its Fund Manager of the Year Award winners for 2001. There were three categories: domestic stock, international stock, and fixed income. For domestic stocks, William C. Nygren of Oakmark Select (OAKLX) is the winner. For international stocks, Jean-Marie Eveillard and Charles de Vaulx of First Eagle SoGen Global (SGENX) are the winners. And for fixed income, Robert L. Rodriguez of FPA New Income (FPNIX) is the winner.
