Though closed-end funds have all but disappeared,
some sponsors are finding them valuable as a way to
offer specific investments to investors. Wednesday's
Wall Street Journal Fund Track column, penned by Ian Salisbury,
chronicles the launch last week of
Eaton Vance Tax-Advantage Bond & Option Strategies Fund and
ClearBridge Energy MLP Fund. The ClearBridge product raised $1.1 billion.
"After two moribund years, the market for closed-end
funds finally may be back," Salisbury writes.
