Fundsters interested in the beginnings of the index mutual fund may want to take a look at Saturday's edition of the Wall Street Journal. Vanguard [see profile] founder Jack Bogle penned an op-ed detailing his story of being inspired by economist Paul Samuelson and then creating the first index fund, the First Index Investment Trust (now called the Vanguard 500 Index Fund).
