PIMCO[see profile] has appointed Jennifer Bridwell as head of alternatives product development, which is an expansion of her current role as managing director and head of mortgage strategies development for the firm. Bridwell has been with PIMCO since 2005 and is based in the firm's Newport Beach, California office.

PIMCO's alternatives platform includes several hedge funds and private equity or distressed strategies, with total investor assets of approximately $16 billion.

"PIMCO has built over a number of years a large and very successful alternatives business that includes hedge funds and private strategies," stated Douglas Hodge, PIMCO's chief operating officer. "Jennifer's deep knowledge and experience in the alternatives space will enable us to marshal the full range of PIMCO's resources to develop and manage investment solutions that deliver value to our clients."
