Bill Gross made the news again this weekend, though this time it was not for his fund's performance or for his literary allusions. Instead, it was for his philanthropy.

The Pimco [profile] chief donated $20 million to Mercy Ships to build a hospital ship to provide medical care to less developed countries.

The gift was through the foundation Gross founded with his wife Sue.
