Pimco Total Return has become a bandwagon investment for investors who operate under the assumption that past performance will guarantee future success, Silverblatt writes.
Silverblatt interviewed
Eric Jacobson, a senior analyst at Morningstar, whom he quoted as saying, "It's the kind of money that you expect to retreat when there's the least bit of trouble."
Silverblatt also spoke to
Jeff Tjornehoj, Lipper's head of Americas research, who told Silverblatt that although it makes sense for some investors to leave bonds, a rising rate environment is not sufficient to provoke big changes to long-term allocation plans.
