Cohen & Steers is targeting advisors with a campaign explaining why REITs deserve a place in retirement portfolios. The firm has put together a one page, laminated marketing sheet showing the income that REITs currently return compared with government bonds and stocks.
The chart shows that a $10,000 REIT investment made in 1993 paid dividends worth $2,600 by 2002, compared to $1,380 of income from government bonds and $1,120 of income from stocks.
