The Feds Indict a Faux Fidelity Rep

News summary by MFWire's editors

A woman who allegedly committed fraud by pretending to be a Fidelity [profile] employee has been indicted in federal court.

The Appleton Post-Crescent reports that, after an investigation by the Brown County sheriff's department and the FBI, 48-year-old Lisa A. Lewis of Green Bay, Wisconsin was arrested for allegedly conning 13 seniors into transferring more than $1 million into accounts she had access to and then spending the money on gambling, a 2013 Chevy Camaro and to "pay for a friend's surgery," all between September 2006 and July 2013.

According to the sheriff's department, Lewis did it all by pretending to be an account rep with Fidelity, though she isn't a registered broker and isn't affiliated with the Boston Behemoth. The paper reports that Lewis has entered a not-guilty plea.
