Eclipse day is here! And in the mutual fund industry, the official calendar is a little light this week.

Rupal Bhansali Ariel Investments Chief Investment Officer & Portfolio Manager

On Thursday, folks from Chicago-based Ariel Investments [profile] are coming to New York to talk to reporters. Rupal Bhansali, PM of for the Ariel International Fund will be the featured speaker at Ariel's second annual private New York City media roundtable and lunch. The invitation-only event will be held at the St. Regis in midtown Manhattan.

Also on Thursday, the MFWire Summer Thursdays networking series continues after work at Naples 45, also in midtown Manhattan.

Friday at 5pm eastern time is the nomination deadline for the 2017 MMI/Barron's Industry Awards. The Money Management Institute and Barron's are teaming up and seeking firm nominations across six award categories: advisor development, diversity, doing good, investor education, product innovation, and technology. The award categories are not restricted to certain types of firms (including asset managers, broker-dealers, and others), and firms can both nominate themselves and others.
