"We continue to see rapid growth in the demand for Trucost's analytics and innovative new datasets ... while continuing to leverage Trucost across S&P Global's divisions to inform our ESG offerings," Trucost spokesperson Sabrina Mayeen tells
MFWire. "To that end, we have organized the Trucost commercial team, including Libby's former team, under [global commercial officer]
Lauren Smart."
In her new role at Morningstar, Bernick will be based in Philadelphia and will report to
Haywood Kelly, Morningstar's head of research. Bernick joins after
Steven Smit, Morningstar's global head of ESG and sustainability,
left last month.
"Libby has a great combination of deep subject-matter expertise — particularly in environmental issues and associated data — as well as commercial, P&L, speaking, writing, and managerial experience," Kelly stated. "I'm confident she will build on the success of our ESG program to date, which includes the launch of the Morningstar Sustainability Rating (globe ratings) and Carbon Risk Scores, as well a host of supporting data and research."
In addition to Trucost, Bernick's prior work experience includes positions at UL Environment, PE International Five Winds (now Thinkstep), and Rhoads Engineering. She earned both her B.A. in Chemistry and Biology and her M.A.S. in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from the University of Delaware.
