A Big Apple legal eagle to fundsters is on the rise.

Benjamin Wells Simpson Thacher Bartlett LLC Counsel

The New York City-based law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLC is bringing in fifteen new partners, effective January 2020. This fresh batch of partners includes Benjamin Wells, a transactional and regulatory investment advisor also based in the Big Apple.

"I'm excited to help clients with bigger projects in my new position, and I'm very happy to be part of a growing registered funds practice,' Wells tells MFWire.

Wells specializes in registered investment vehicles and investment advising, including closed-end funds, interval funds, business development companies, and REITs, according to the Simpson Thacher website. He has been at the firm for eleven years, as an associate and then as counsel.

Wells was named a "rising star" at the 24th annual Mutual Fund Industry Awards in 2017, and he has been recognized in Super Lawyers magazine.

Prior to working at Simpson Thacher, Wells attended Trinity University, where he graduated in 2003 with a B.A. in Business Administration and Chinese. He later earned his J.D. at the University of Michigan Law School.
