Brilliant Adds a M* Vet to the C-Suite

Reported by Ana Garcia Conway

A Midwestern fund firm's chief hires a fellow Morningstar veteran for a key spot, and she's looking for another senior hire.

Anna Corona
Diamond Hill Capital Management
Chief People Officer
Anna Corona joined Columbus, Ohio-based Diamond Hill Capital Management in the newly created chief people officer role on May 18, president and CEO Heather Brilliant recently confirmed. Prior to joining Diamond Hill, Corona was the head of talent and culture at Sydney-based Morningstar Australasia, a subsidiary of Chicago-based Morningstar, Inc.

This newly created role is one of several leadership changes occurring at Diamond Hill. Brilliant has named a new chief client officer from within, as well as created the new role of managing director of marketing. And Brilliant's looking for a general counsel.

The CPO role is akin to a head of human resources role and reports to Brilliant. Corona's responsibilities include talent acquisition, organizational development, diversity and inclusion, total rewards, employee engagement, and HR operations. She will also serve on Diamond Hill's management team, and work with its the board of directors and compensation committee.

Corona stated, "I'm excited to join Diamond Hill, an asset manager with a strong reputation for its investment culture, client focus and commitment to employees and the community."

Brilliant stated, "I'm delighted to welcome Anna as our chief people officer. Anna brings broad experience in talent development, succession planning, coaching, and benefits to this key role. She is a collaborative leader and an excellent cultural fit for Diamond Hill."

Corona joined Morningstar in 2003, and remained there for more than sixteen years. Her first position at the company was as the Human Resources Coordinator and Immigration Specialist. She even worked with Brilliant in Australia for a few years, before Brilliant left in 2017. (Brilliant took over Diamond Hill September.

As of April 30, 2020, Diamond Hill manages $19.5 billion in assets.

Corona received her bachelors in Global Studies at the University of Iowa. Her masters in International Public Health was completed at the University of Sydney.

Editor's Note: A prior version of this story mischaracterized Corona's connection with Diamond Hill's board of directors and compensation committee. She will be working with the board and the committee in her new role.
