A Nine-Year Vet Takes Over a Multinational's N Am Distro

Reported by Lauren Corradi

A multinational asset manager now has a familiar new distribution chief on this side of the pond.

Gene R "Mickey" Janvier
Aberdeen Standard Investments
Head of North American Distribution
Mickey Janvier, head of wealth management business development in the Americas for Edinburgh-based Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) was recently promoted to head of North America distribution. (Like Aberdeen Standard's North America business, Janvier is based in the Philadelphia area.)

Janvier did not immediately return a call for comment.

Janvier's promotion comes after Jeff Klepacki, then-head of North America distribution, left company last December.

In his new role, Janvier will manage all facets of distribution in North America and Canada, as well as leading the North America Distribution team of 84. He will report to Alex Hoctor-Duncan, global sales director, and to Chris Demetriou, CEO of the Americas.

"In his time with the company, Mickey's leadership and strong commercial and strategic acumen have seen him build and reinvent the Wealth Management group to stay competitive and consistently deliver excellent sales and client engagement through all cycles," stated Hoctor-Duncan.

"Mickey has been at the forefront of our efforts to accelerate our ambition with key strategic Intermediary distribution partners in recent years," Demetriou stated. "He has built a highly functioning team, to cultivate strong client relationships and has demonstrated expertise across both the wealth management and institutional landscape."

“We have ambitious growth plans for the region and it's fantastic to have someone with Mickey's knowledge of our business and the broad commercial marketplace in this position to help drive our strategy forward," Demetriou stated.

As of December 31, ASI had $68.6 billion in AUM in North America region across equities, fixed income, alternative investment strategies, private markets, multi asset and commodities. That accounts for about 10.6 percent of Standard Life Aberdeen's global AUM of $644.5 billion as of December 31. (Standard Life Aberdeen is ASI's parent.)

An alumnus of Drexel University's LeBow College of Business, Janvier has served at Aberdeen for more than nine years. Prior, he served at Brandywine Global for nearly 13 years p. Before that, he served at Wilmington Trust for three years. Janvier also served at PFPC for three years.
