The chief of a $74-billion-AUM, five-shop multiboutique asset manager is passing the reins.

Robert Daniel Kendall III Carillon Tower Advisers Incoming President

Today Jeff Dowdle, chief operating officer of Raymond James, confirms that the St. Petersburg, Florida-based, publicly traded broker-dealer is hiring Bob Kendall as the next president of Carillon Tower Advisers, RayJay's asset management business. Kendall, who will start on Friday, succeeds Cooper Abbott, who retired from the firm at the end of March.

Abbott did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Kendall most recently hailed from DWS, where he served as regional head of the Americas and co-head of the global coverage group before leaving last year.

Kendall shared his excitement about his appointment.

Kendall joined DWS 11 years ago, and he rose to lead the Americas there in 2016. Before that, he spent more than a dozen years at Van Kampen, where he rose to national sales manager. He attended the University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business.

Abbott has led Carillon Tower since its creation in 2016. He joined the RayJay family in 2001, and he led RayJay's Eagle Asset Management subsidiary prior to the creation of Carillon Tower (which includes Eagle and several other boutiques). Earlier, he worked at Deutsche Bank. He is an alumnus of UPenn's Wharton School and of Brown University.
