Harbor Hires a 15-Year JPM Vet

Reported by Andrew Lusk

A seasoned portfolio manager with a Big Apple financial juggernaut has departed for another portfolio management and managing director role with a Windy City subadvised fund firm.

Earlier this month, former J.P. Morgan Asset Management executive director Lindsey Houghton left the company and joined Chicago, Illinois-based Harbor Capital Advisors, an asset manager with more than $63 billion in total AUM, as of May 2021. Houghton joined JPMAM in 2006. At Harbor, he now serves as a PM and managing director on the subadvised fund firm's multi-asset solutions team.

Calls placed with a JPMAM spokesperson were not returned.

A spokesperson for Harbor Capital Advisors writes to MFWire, "Lindsey Houghton left J.P. Morgan Asset Management towards the end of the third quarter after spending fifteen years with the structured equity team within [the firm's] U.S. equities department, where he was a portfolio manager on small/mid cap products with $9 billion in assets under management."

"Lindsey joins Harbor's multi-asset solutions team," the spokesperson continues, "and is reuniting with another J.P. Morgan alum, Spenser Lerner, head of multi-asset solutions."

Lerner joined Harbor in May of 2020.

The spokesperson adds, "As a managing director and portfolio manager, Lindsey's primary responsibilities will be to assist in the design and launch of new innovative strategies, deliver market insights to clients, and provide asset allocation decisions for the multi-asset solutions products."

"[Houghton] is excited to join Harbor," says the spokesperson, "which embodies a culture of intellectual curiosity, internal motivation, and client-first mentality under the vision and stewardship of CEO Charlie McCain and President and CIO Kristof Gleich."

Prior to his work with both Harbor Capital and JPMAM, Houghton briefly served as a research analyst for the BKF Capital Group, in 2006. From 2000 to 2006, he was a vice president with Voya Investment Management. Houghton is an alumnus of the University of Delaware.
