The folks at Allianz's Pimco and Morgan Stanley's Eaton Vance may be busting out some champagne on their next Zoom happy hours.

This afternoon, Craig Pfeiffer, president and CEO of the Money Management Institute (MMI), revealed John Monininger, managing director of retail sales at Eaton Vance, as the winner of the 2021 MMI Leadership Award (fka the MMI Pioneer Award). Pfeiffer and Troy Thornton (managing director and head of Americas retail client business at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and chair of MMI's board of governors) also revealed Pimco as the winner of the 2021 MMI Chairman's Award, one of the three MMI Member Recognition Awards.

The awards ceremony was part of the final day of the week-long 2021 MMI Annual Conference, which was held online this year. Other MMI Member Recognition Award winners included: RBC Wealth Management, which won the MMI President's Award; and InvestCloud, which won the MMI Governor's Award.

Pfeiffer also shared his "President Report" on the state of MMI. He hinted at the upcoming, year-long celebration of the trade group's 25th anniversary, for which they hired an ad agency and updated their logo and branding. (MMI was founded in 1997.) He also mentioned another big upcoming change.

"In 2022, MMI's website will undergo a complete renovation. It's time!" Pfeiffer said, adding that the updated website will feature "new branding, improved navigation, enhanced functionality, and a better user experience."
